What This Site Is

Pour & Calibrate is a spec-driven research desk for pour-over coffee equipment. We document grinders, drippers, kettles, scales, and accessories based on measurable parameters — not subjective impressions.

We are not a testing laboratory. We are a research desk. Our work is based on manufacturer specifications, published tolerances, community-verified data, and the underlying physics of coffee extraction.

Our Methodology

Every piece of equipment on this site is evaluated through the same lens:

• Burr geometry & grind distribution. For grinders, we document burr type (conical, flat, hybrid), burr diameter, material, and — where data exists — particle-size distribution characteristics at reference settings.
• Thermal properties. Kettle materials, insulation design, temperature stability, and heat-up curves. For drippers, thermal mass and heat retention of the brew bed.
• Extraction parameters. Flow rate, contact time, bed depth, and how a dripper's geometry shapes the extraction profile. We reference established extraction science — not vibes.
• Build tolerances & materials. What a product is made of, how precisely it's machined, and what that means for consistency over time.
• Measurement resolution & accuracy. For scales, we document resolution, response time, maximum capacity, and drift characteristics.

What We Don't Do

• No star ratings. A five-star scale collapses too much information into too little signal. We present specifications and let the parameters speak.
• No sponsored placements. No manufacturer or retailer can purchase a featured position, a comparison slot, or favourable coverage. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.
• No "best of" without context. "Best" depends on what you're optimising for. We structure comparisons around specific parameters so you can weight what matters to your workflow.
• No fluff. No lifestyle photography essays. No "pour-over changed my morning routine" narratives. Specifications, comparisons, and analysis.
